hometown: Truckee/Tahoe, CA

home mountain: Squaw Valley

years skiing: 27

years kiting: 3

locations snowkited: Tahoe, Eastern Sierras, Lassen, Soldier Idaho, Craters of the Moon Idaho, Utah...

locations kited and surfed: California, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago...

Favorite spot: For snowkiting it would have to be the Eastern Sierras. Due to their large amount of snowfall and the shear size. Its the best I've seen thus far. Tobago would have to be my favorite water location so far. We would surf all morning until around 10:30 and then kite until 5. The variety of conditions, waves to flat water, was amazing!

The Tahoe Kite Scene

Summer: Tahoe is quickly becoming known for its kiting. In the summer we have begun to call our local spot "Kite Beach" due to the rising amount of kiters in the water. Its awesome to see a sport such as kiting take place on one of the most unique lakes in the world. Tahoe has always been a Mecca for alternative sports athletes and I'm sure as kiting begins become more well known the great athletes that will participate in the sport will rise.

Winter: It's only a matter of time before Tahoe and its surrounding areas become recognized as one of the premier snowkiting locations. Its close proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area, large annual snowfall, consistent mountain wind, and vast amounts of terrain offer kiters a winter wonderland to explore. The wind has proven to be quite amazing offering other kiters and I the ability to kite an average of 4 days a week through the winter. There are several kiters who already know this and we keep in close contact, generally kiting together at a variety of great locations.
